Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei said on the 15th that Iran will be responsible for the management of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz for a 'specific period', and will charge related shipping service fees.
At a press conference at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, he stated that Iran, together with Oman (another country bordering the Strait of Hormuz), will take necessary measures to ensure the safe passage of ships through the strait.
US Promises to Unfreeze Iran's Frozen Assets
Baghaei said that the unfreezing of Iran's frozen assets and compensation for losses are important topics on the economic front. The US side has promised to take action in these regards. In addition, restrictions on Iran’s sales of oil and oil derivatives should also be lifted.
He pointed out that in the Iran-US ceasefire memorandum of understanding, the word “Lebanon” is mentioned three times, and “ending the conflict should include Lebanon, and Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity should be respected.”
Baghaei said that the process of nuclear negotiations and sanctions relief will begin within 60 days. According to the memorandum of understanding, the US is obliged to lift all sanctions against Iran.
