The White House confirmed on the 2nd that a parade will be held on the 14th of next month, coinciding with President Trump's 79th birthday.
White House spokesperson Kelly noted on social media that to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army on June 14th, President Trump will hold a parade to honor U.S. veterans, active military personnel, and military history.
June 14th is also known as Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the American flag at the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
It is reported that after attending the Bastille Day parade (i.e., France's national day) in France during his first term, Trump has been keen on military parades.
According to the preliminary arrangements released by the Pentagon, the celebration on June 14th in Washington, D.C. will include a grand fireworks display and an all-day celebration at the National Mall. Approximately 6,600 soldiers, 150 military vehicles, and 50 aircraft will form the parade formation.
The last large-scale parade in the United States was held in 1991, celebrating the end of the Gulf War.
