(Kuching, 27th) Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen personally visited Sungai Maong Chinese Primary School to hand over the second installment of RM168,000 from the Stampin Constituency's "Primary School Digital Teaching Program" grant to install smart TVs in all remaining classrooms.
Once this program is fully implemented, the school's 39 classrooms will achieve full digital teaching, benefiting over 1,300 students, and making it one of the schools with the most comprehensive smart classroom equipment in the Stampin constituency.
Last November, Chong Chieng Jen handed over the first installment of RM72,500 for installing smart TVs in some classrooms, allowing these students to first experience the advanced digital teaching system. At that time, he also committed to achieving the school's full classroom digitalization goal within the year.
In mid-year, Chong Chieng Jen assisted the school in securing a private sector sponsorship of RM190,000 to purchase smart TVs for the school.
Today, Chong Chieng Jen fulfilled his promise with concrete action, adhering to his consistent "walk the talk" approach by personally delivering the third installment of the grant to the school, earning unanimous praise from the school and board members.
In his press release today, Chong Chieng Jen stated that smart TVs are essential tools in modern education, integrating internet connectivity and multimedia capabilities, and are more efficient than traditional blackboards or whiteboards, or even modern projectors. They provide a richer interactive teaching experience for teachers and students.
He explained that smart TVs combine televisions, computers, and smartphones in one, can connect to Wi-Fi for browsing Google or online education platforms, video courses, and e-books, helping teachers access the latest teaching materials.
“Teachers can use smart TVs to play educational videos, audio, slides, and animations in various formats, making classes more lively and interesting. Moreover, many smart TVs have touchscreens or gesture control, allowing teachers and students to directly interact with the content, enhancing classroom participation.”
He said that additionally, smart TVs support downloading various educational applications, enabling teachers to conduct quizzes, games, and other interactive activities, which increase students' interest in learning.

Given the powerful functionality of smart TVs, Chong Chieng Jen pointed out that his service center has been fully promoting and implementing this program since the beginning of the year, supporting 36 primary schools, including Chinese schools, mission schools, and national schools, to achieve digital teaching, benefiting approximately 15,000 students.
He continued that, in fact, his service center had "piloted" this program in several Chinese schools two years ago, receiving widespread acclaim and a strong response from teachers and students for using smart TVs. Thus, this program was prioritized as a key task for his service center.
After two years of active promotion, Chong Chieng Jen revealed that as of now, out of 21 Chinese primary schools in the Stampin constituency, only one school remains uninstalled with modern smart TVs. The other 20 schools have smart TV facilities in each classroom, benefiting nearly 10,000 students. Many schools report that since installing smart TVs, students' interest in classroom learning has significantly increased, and attendance rates have improved. Teachers find smart TVs easy to operate, making teaching more relaxed.
What gratifies him more is that Chong Chieng Jen mentioned that after classes switched to smart TV teaching, many students from financially challenged families have the opportunity to connect with the internet and modern smart devices in class, equipping them with technological knowledge to better adapt to an increasingly digital future.
He expressed gratitude to the teachers for their hard work, as beyond their regular teaching duties, they voluntarily spend extra time learning and mastering more applications and functions of smart TVs, fully utilizing their capabilities and integrating them into their teaching more effectively.
He extended his wishes, hoping that the entire faculty and students of Sungai Maong Chinese Primary School will make good use of these advanced devices, significantly improving the overall teaching standards and quality, and achieving further academic progress in a digital environment.
