Milton Foo: THE NORTHBANK Permanent Road Closure Causing Resident Inconvenience

(Kuching, 27th) Recently, Sarawak United People's Party Public Complaints Bureau Director  Milton Foo received assistance requests from residents living in The NorthBank in Kuching.

The residents found out about the permanent road closure on the Sarawak Light Rail Facebook page on Christmas Eve, and this news has started to spread widely in the residential area.

He revealed that because the Autonomous Rail Transit system construction runs through the dual road routes in the area, initially only one direction was closed, but now both roads have been completely shut down.

He said that residents also complained about the persistent congestion on the Samarahan Expressway, especially during busy commuting hours.

“The alternative route provided by Sarawak Light Rail cannot facilitate residents returning to THE NORTHBANK. Moreover, nearby shops have also been affected.”

In a statement today,  Milton Foo  pointed out that residents have always used this road to return home, but now all their plans have been completely disrupted by this project, causing inconvenience and concern when returning home.

“There is also the TUNKU PUTRA school, and the consequences will be unimaginable when classes resume.”

He revealed that residents hope relevant authorities pay attention to the road closure issue and request developers to design new detours to return to local residents, to avoid causing inconvenience.

Milton Foo  hopes that the relevant authorities engage in-depth communication and further dialogue with affected Northbank residents and surrounding businesses before implementing road closures and detours to achieve a win-win situation, rather than hastily closing the relevant roads.
