(Tokyo, 25th) Japanese media reports that the Japanese government is calling on countries to carefully consider whether to participate in China’s commemoration activities for the victory in the War of Resistance against Japan.
On Sunday (August 24), Japan’s Kyodo News quoted multiple Japanese diplomatic sources as saying that China will hold a ceremony and military parade on September 3 at Beijing’s Tiananmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the war. The Japanese government has, through diplomatic channels, urged European and Asian countries to carefully consider participation in order to prevent China’s narrative of history from gaining wider acceptance in the international community.
Prior to these events, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit will be held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to attend the Tianjin summit and then head to Beijing for the commemorative activities and military parade.
It is understood that China has extended invitations to heads of state and leaders of international organizations to attend the above activities. Kyodo News quoted Japanese diplomatic sources as revealing that, through its embassies abroad, Japan has informed Eurasian countries that China’s activities are overly focused on history and have a strong anti-Japan tone, and has therefore urged national leaders to carefully consider whether to participate.
On September 3, China will hold a military parade at Tiananmen Square in Beijing to commemorate the victory over Japan in the War of Resistance and the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II. Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping will review the troops and deliver an address.
According to Chinese officials, this parade will last 70 minutes, during which a new generation of PLA weaponry will be showcased, including hypersonic weapons, air defense and missile interception systems, strategic missiles, and other advanced equipment. "A significant proportion of the equipment will be on public display for the first time."
An integrated rehearsal was held at Tiananmen in Beijing on Sunday for the third and final time, completing the entire 12-hour rehearsal process.
