This year, Singapore’s National Day Parade will return to the National Stadium. However, the widely popular Red Lions parachute performance, Navy frogmen show, and Special Operations Command parade will not take place this year.
Responding to inquiries at the launch event of SG61 National Day Parade, 2026 NDP executive committee chairman Lim Han Yong pointed out on Thursday that the Red Lions parachute jump has always been a classic highlight eagerly anticipated by the public. However, due to safety and operational considerations related to this year’s venue, these performances will be temporarily absent from this year’s celebrations.
He emphasized that this arrangement is mainly to align with the new concepts and overall creativity for this year’s Parade, and does not mean that the Red Lions parachute jump will be permanently withdrawn from future National Day celebrations.
He said that this year’s organizing committee is committed to creating a more inclusive and immersive viewing experience within the National Stadium, including an indoor drone light show and the largest-ever scale of indoor special effects.
Regarding this year’s Parade budget, he revealed that the resources invested this year are similar to non-milestone years’ National Day Parades in the past.
He stated that the cost of the National Day Parade mainly depends on the venue and the scale of the programme. For example, milestone years such as SG50 had expenditures of about 40.5 million dollars; in 2016, when it was first held at the National Stadium, the cost was about 39.4 million dollars. For non-milestone year Parades held at The Float @ Marina Bay, expenditures typically ranged from 15.7 million to 17.9 million dollars.
