On the 13th, Christie's auction house in Geneva, Switzerland, auctioned a 5.5-carat diamond known as the largest known fancy vivid blue-green diamond, "The Ocean Dream,” for over 13.6 million Swiss francs (approximately 68.27 million ringgit).
This set a record for the highest auction price for a diamond of its kind.
The rare diamond's original rough weighed 11.7 carats and was discovered in Central Africa in the 1990s. It was later cut into its present triangular shape, with its color shifting between sea blue and vivid green depending on the lighting. The auction lasted about 20 minutes before an anonymous bidder won the diamond.
