Ju Jingyi Accused of Tax Evasion, Authorities Confirm 'No Issues Found'

Chinese actress Ju Jingyi became embroiled in a contract dispute with 'Siba Media' in June 2024, with both sides engaging in ongoing legal battles in recent years. On March 31, it was reported that 'Siba Media' had reported Ju Jingyi to the tax authorities for alleged tax evasion, claiming that Ju Jingyi declared an income of 11 million RMB (about 6.44 million MYR) in 2024, but her actual income exceeded 50 million RMB (about 29.29 million MYR), a discrepancy ratio of 88%, and attached a detailed list of undeclared income as evidence.

Meanwhile, Ju Jingyi's new drama 'Moonscale Fantasy,' starring alongside Zeng Shunxi, Chen Duling, and Tian Jiarui, had just announced it would premiere on the 1st and could be affected by the controversy. Ju Jingyi's studio urgently issued a statement refuting Siba Media, asserting that the tax evasion accusations were 'completely groundless and false information.' Shortly after, the tax authorities stated that 'no issues had been found,' and the incident was temporarily settled.

The 31-year-old Ju Jingyi was formerly a member of Siba Media's girl group 'SNH48.' She claimed that the management contract between the two parties had expired on June 18, 2024, and then established her own personal studio to work independently, also accusing Siba Media of withholding her earnings through 'dual contracts' and long-term delayed settlements. Siba Media, in turn, accused Ju Jingyi of being 'ungrateful,' noting that both parties signed a supplemental agreement in 2018, extending the contract to 2033, and that they had paid her a pre-tax total of 139 million RMB (about 81.43 million MYR) over ten years, as well as providing luxurious benefits such as vehicles and river-view apartments.

In addition, since Ju Jingyi accused Siba Media of forging her signature on the supplemental agreement, the court twice commissioned third-party agencies to assess the handwriting. Both times, the result was 'unable to determine if the signature was written by her.' Although Siba Media issued their own handwriting identification report claiming the signatures matched, it was not accepted by the judiciary.

On March 26, online rumors claimed both parties had reached a 'grand reconciliation,' but Siba Media immediately issued a stern statement to dispel the rumor, emphasizing 'no reconciliation, no negotiations,' and confirmed that both parties are still in judicial proceedings. On the 30th, Siba Media reported Ju Jingyi's alleged tax evasion to the Shanghai tax bureau. Ju Jingyi's studio released a statement accusing Siba Media of frequently disseminating false information related to Ju Jingyi and related cases in the past six months, attempting to manipulate public opinion and destroy Ju Jingyi's entertainment career.

Subsequently, an announcement from Shanghai Tax Bureau stated that since September 2025, they had received multiple similar reports. After careful investigation, they found no tax issues as reflected in the reports, and had already informed the reporting party of the investigation results. In accordance with legal regulations, this complaint involved repeated reporting of an already concluded issue without providing new valid leads and would not be accepted according to law. On the other hand, Siba Media clarified that it was not the accuser, and that the reported incident was purely an individual's behavior.
