KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Bernama) -- Major hotels in the heart of Kuala Lumpur are gearing up to welcome delegates of the 46th ASEAN Summit with Malaysia’s hospitality, rich cultural heritage and vibrant local cuisine.
A check by Bernama revealed that leading hotels across the capital have seen a significant uptick in bookings ahead of the event, which will gather Southeast Asian leaders, diplomats, business representatives and international media.
Ascott International Management Malaysia’s Country General Manager, Mondi Mecja, said the surge in reservations began sharply after Malaysia was confirmed as the summit host.
“While we are not fully booked yet, our occupancy is filling up fast. We’re expecting full capacity as the event draws near,” he said.
In celebration of the region’s diversity, Ascott will showcase ASEAN cultures in their lobbies, alongside culinary offerings such as Malaysian laksa, Thai green curry and Vietnamese spring rolls.
To enhance guest experience, the hotel also provides staff training on basic regional languages and cultural etiquette, ensuring warm and respectful services for international visitors.
Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, directly linked to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), which will be the venue of the summit, is also preparing to deliver a memorable experience for ASEAN delegates.
Its Director of Communications, Shawn Lim, said the hotel’s location has made it a preferred choice for attending dignitaries and media teams.
While the hotel has not formalised partnerships with tourism bodies, its team remains actively engaged with relevant agencies to ensure alignment with national hosting efforts.
Meanwhile, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is similarly stepping up preparations with what it calls a showcase of “authentic Malaysian flair”.
Assistant Director of Marketing Communications Hazel Lim said the hotel will offer guests a taste of local traditions, including live stations serving teh tarik and roti canai during breakfast and curated menus at its signature restaurant JPteres, known for Nyonya dishes and classic hawker fare.
As the chair and host of ASEAN 2025, Malaysia will host the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits at the KLCC from May 26 to 27.
In conjunction with the summit, two key high-level meetings - the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Economic Summit will also take place, marking an important platform for expanded regional and inter-regional cooperation.
