The Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, revealed that from 2022 to 2024, disciplinary action was taken against a total of 241 immigration officers for misconduct, with 46 of them being dismissed.
In a written response to PAS Kuala Nerus MP Datuk Alias from the parliament, Saifuddin stated that the Immigration Department consistently reminds its officers to comply with legal standards and will not compromise on wrongful conduct.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs also takes a serious view and will not compromise on any acts of dishonesty by officials.”
“From 2022 to 2024, the Immigration Department’s management has taken action against 241 officers, with 47 being dismissed.”
Alias had inquired in parliament about the progress of cases involving Immigration Department officers issuing medical visas to foreigners without following procedure.
In response, Saifuddin stated that the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) is still investigating the matter and has summoned 22 immigration officers to assist in the investigation.
