UK Policewoman Fired After Taking Topless Uniform Photos in Office to Flirt With Boyfriend

A British policewoman was fired for gross misconduct after taking several topless selfies in her uniform during working hours and inside her office, which she sent to her partner to flirt with him.

The 31-year-old officer, Alisha Staves, who worked in the firearms licensing department of the Humberside Police, saw her policing career come to an abrupt end due to these racy selfies.

According to The Sun, the incident took place in 2023. Staves snuck into a storeroom at the police station, took off her shirt, and, wearing only a police fleece, took topless photos which she sent to her boyfriend, adding the message, “Maybe Mrs Officer can help you out.” In another photo, she posed indoors wearing a bulletproof vest while deliberately exposing her chest, with a suggestive caption: “boobs at work.”

The photos only came to light two years later, when Staves became embroiled in an unrelated investigation. Police seized and downloaded data from her electronic devices and, in the process, found these explicit photos stored on her private phone. Staves had already received a written warning at the time due to other conduct.

A lawyer representing the police said Staves had taken these photos to prove her identity as a police officer, after her partner doubted that she was a “real frontline cop.” The lawyer condemned the act as sexually suggestive, an egregious abuse of power, and severely damaging to the reputation of the police force, stating, “This deliberate and wholly inappropriate conduct is sufficient grounds for dismissal.”

Staves’s defense lawyer argued that this was a “foolish mistake.” He claimed that Staves had been under pressure from her partner, who kept mocking her for not being a real cop, so she tried to joke around in this way. Staves also claimed she was sure everyone in the office had left when she took the photos, and she always believed the images were only shared privately and would never be leaked.

However, Humberside Police Chief Chris Todd was unmoved, stating that Staves’s actions were a serious breach of professional standards and amounted to gross misconduct. Ultimately, the officer, who joined the force in 2019, was immediately dismissed and paid a heavy price for her “career selfies.”
