Northern Sarawak New Association Jointly Organizes Blood Donation Drive – 66 Successfully Donated Blood

(Miri, 2nd) Jointly organized by the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association, Miri Radio Leisure Club, and Soon Seng Lee Trading (Miri) Sdn. Bhd., the first blood donation event in Miri for 2026 themed “Love Blood Donation, Care for Society” saw 75 people register, among whom 66 successfully donated blood.

The event was held yesterday from 9am to 1pm on the third floor of the Miri Bintang Megamall. Successful donors received sponsored gifts, including a 2kg pack of Royal Basmathi healthy rice (sponsored by Soon Seng Lee Trading (Miri) Sdn. Bhd.), Hibiscus cooking oil (sponsored by Sarawak Oil Palm Group), Indocafe instant beverage (sponsored by Regal Market & Trading Sdn. Bhd.), and bread (sponsored by Miri Twins Bakery).

The organizing committee chairman and Treasurer of the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association, Yang Wanyong, stated that the association has been regularly organizing blood donation activities since 2019. This marks the eighth year, and the event continues to be held at the start of the year, kicking off the new year with this charity initiative.

He said that as an organization for media workers, they hope to use both blood donation events and reporting to spread the message of saving lives through blood donation and healthy living, encouraging more members of the public to become regular donors.

He also expressed his gratitude to all participating parties and staff for their hard work as well as to the enthusiastic donors, demonstrating the collective strength of all sectors of society and spreading seeds of love and care together.

This event received sponsorship from Soon Seng Lee Trading (Miri) Sdn. Bhd., Regal Market & Trading Sdn. Bhd., Miri Twins Bakery, and Sarawak Oil Palm Group; co-organizers included Miri Hospital Blood Bank and Miri Red Crescent, while the venue was provided by Miri Bintang Megamall.
