Lin Shuhua: Only by Passing on the Torch Can We Bridge the Past and the Future

(Miri, 2nd) Sarawak Miri Lin Clan Association President Lin Shuhua stated that since its establishment, the clan association has gone through more than forty years, and it owes its solid foundation today to the dedication and wisdom of its predecessors.

She remembers the words of forebears: 'Those before plant the trees; those after enjoy the shade.' Only by passing on the torch can we live up to the trust given to us and bridge the past and the future. The Lin Clan Association is not only a bond of surname, but also an extension of the bloodline and a home for shared emotions.

Lin Shuhua made these remarks yesterday in her speech at the Association's 23rd Annual General Assembly of members' representatives. On the occasion of the New Year, she thanked everyone for taking the time to attend this annual meeting. She expressed her honor at being elected as the 23rd president and that this was her first opportunity to speak at the meeting, feeling both excited and grateful, and at the same time deeply aware of the weight of her responsibility.

She pointed out that in the new year, the clan association will focus on three main directions: First, to strengthen bonds by promoting fellowship and care visits, further enhancing unity among clan members; second, to promote traditional culture by continuing to offer academic scholarships and festive activities, thus passing on the spirit of the Lin family; third, to innovate association affairs by keeping up with the times and pushing forward modernization and digitalization, improving communication efficiency and transparency, and attracting more young clan members to join.

Lin Shuhua called on all clan members to embrace each other with the spirit of 'One Family Across the Four Seas', watch out for each other, and support one another. She quoted a poem: 'Same root, same ancestor, same origin, like hundreds of rivers returning to the sea, we are one family.' She hopes the Lin Clan Association will grow tall like a towering tree, with flourishing branches and leaves; or flow like a vast river, with an endless stream.
