Veteran Hong Kong artist Wu Fung (Uncle Sau) recently participated in the filming of TVB's brand-new online program "Inside TV City." In a deep conversation with the hosts, Uncle Sau not only reminisced about his transition from the film industry to television, but also responded positively to recent persistent rumors about his "late-life romance" and martial arts prowess.
Uncle Sau revealed during the interview that joining the television industry was purely by chance. At the time, he was dining at a restaurant and happened to run into artist Tam Bing-man. Tam asked if he was interested in trying out television acting and introduced him to several senior television executives present. With an open mind towards new experiences, both parties hit it off immediately, and he soon joined the long-running variety show "Enjoy Yourself Tonight," officially launching his TV career.
Regarding the persistent rumors circulating online, Uncle Sau demonstrated both humor and wisdom during the show. Because he and Lo Lan have frequently played married couples on screen, and their personal friendship is very close, social platforms in China once widely circulated the story that "Wu Fung married Lo Lan." In response, Uncle Sau said that the rumor has been around for years. Although he finds it baffling, he takes it with good cheer, joking that having media attention at the age of 93 is truly rare, and he remains unfazed by outside gossip.
There has also been word in the community that Uncle Sau is highly skilled in martial arts, and even acted as Bruce Lee's acting instructor. Uncle Sau clarified that while Bruce Lee did often invite him to spar and encouraged him to try to strike, Lee was so incredibly agile that Uncle Sau simply couldn't touch him, let alone "spar" in any meaningful way. He urged the public not to believe in such false information circulating online.
