A 20-year-old Douyin influencer from Fujian, China, Umi (real name Wu Zhenzhen), was recently found injured and stranded on the streets of Sihanoukville, Cambodia, appearing confused and having difficulty moving. Local hospital tests showed that hair samples were positive for methamphetamine and ketamine, and she was also suffering from multiple illnesses. Her previous online claims of having been the girlfriend of a high-level telecom scammer also triggered heated discussions among netizens.

After the incident of Wu Zhenzhen being abandoned on a Cambodian street came to light, many netizens dug up her past interactions on Douyin and found that she had once responded to comments about being "Pan Boss's woman," saying "I once was." Screenshots of this quickly circulated online.

The term "Pan Boss" has been interpreted as a code name for a senior figure in "pig-butchering" scams, namely a telecom scam zone supervisor, but Wu Zhenzhen herself did not further comment on this claim.

It is understood that Wu Zhenzhen stated she traveled to Cambodia in March 2025 through a friend's introduction to work in so-called service industry jobs. During this time, she met a boyfriend, but the two later broke up. As for why she ended up stranded on the streets, she claimed it was due to poor health and limited mobility, and her landlord, concerned for safety, ultimately asked her to leave her residence.

She recalled that she had been confined for several days, but could not specify the exact location or reasons. She repeatedly mentioned having worked locally as a service worker but consistently avoided discussing actual job details; related specifics remain unclear.

Currently, Wu Zhenzhen is receiving treatment at Sihanoukville Tongji Hospital in Cambodia. The hospital noted that upon admission, she showed symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, bloating, difficulty urinating, and general weakness. Examination diagnosed her with lung infection, pleurisy, pleural effusion, urinary retention, as well as somatic symptom disorder and hypoproteinemia.

After several days of treatment, her vital signs have stabilized, and her appetite and willingness to communicate have gradually improved.

Previous reports indicate that in April last year, Wu Zhenzhen lied to her family, claiming she was working in Zhejiang, but in reality, she secretly left the country for Cambodia. During that time, she kept her whereabouts hidden through video calls and requested over 80,000 RMB (about 46,000 ringgit) from her father in just nine months.

On the 26th of last month, she was found curled up on the streets of Sihanoukville, her legs covered in dark purple bruises, her kneecap broken, clutching medical imaging documents in her hand, and mentally exhausted—a stark contrast to her glamorous persona on social media.

The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia stated that Wu Zhenzhen reported she was lured to the country by promises of "high-paying jobs", but for various reasons ended up stranded. Her health is reportedly improving, and the embassy has contacted her family to help arrange her return home.

The incident continues to gain traction online, with some netizens suspecting that she may have been tricked into leaving the country by a fellow hometown boyfriend with promises of "high-income lifestyle" and "private jets and parties"; others speculate she might have been sold locally because of her boyfriend's debts. However, these claims have not been officially confirmed, and the truth awaits further investigation.
