(Miri, 12th) The Minister of Works of Malaysia, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, stated that the youth are the future, and thus, active actions and support are needed to make them catalysts of progress and growth.
He said that, in fact, many young people, especially those from rural areas, semi-urban areas, and the indigenous community of Sarawak, which we value, face significant obstacles in their realities.
Alexander Nanta Linggi mentioned this in his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Miri Youth Empowerment Expo held at the Miri Indoor Stadium.
He pointed out that limited educational resources, employment barriers, insufficient skill training opportunities, and restricted economic opportunities continue to hinder their progress. Recognizing these challenges is just the first step. To effectively address these challenges requires collective commitment, strategic planning, and sincere collaboration among all stakeholders.
“In this spirit, today's event precisely reflects such collective action. Thanks to the crucial role played by the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) and their extraordinary dedication in leading this event, coordinating the efforts of various partners to contribute to the empowerment of Sarawak's youth.”
He also said that given the growing influence of e-sports globally, we use competitive digital platforms to nurture young people's strategic thinking, teamwork, and creativity, highlighting career paths in digital technology, game development, and content creation that are future-oriented.
He urged participants to seize every opportunity presented today. Actively engage, embrace learning, and look forward to a bright future full of unlimited possibilities. Let us work together to cultivate a generation capable of shaping Sarawak's future, equipping them with confidence, skills, and resilience to face future challenges.
