(Miri, 12th) Miri Police District ACP Alexander Naga confirmed that Unit Risikan Marin (URM) Markas Taktikal Pasukan Polis Marin Wilayah 5 Miri discovered a diesel smuggling case during a crackdown in Bekenu the day before.
The police intercepted a lorry at the mentioned location at 7 PM on the 11th of this month and found it carrying a large quantity of diesel. The 45-year-old driver was arrested for failing to produce valid documents.
It is reported that the seized items, including the lorry and diesel, are valued at 108,000 Malaysian Ringgit.
All confiscated items will be handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade for investigation.
