Zhao Wei’s Ex-Husband Becomes International Fugitive, Rumors of Jack Ma Being Ordered to Persuade Him Back to China

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) announced on April 30 that Chinese actress Zhao Wei's ex-husband Huang Youlong (code-named H) is wanted under a red notice while awaiting an extradition hearing in Bordeaux, France. This notice was issued at China's request to Interpol. Adding to the intrigue, Alibaba founder Jack Ma was reportedly required by Chinese authorities to personally call and persuade H to return to China.

Zhao Wei skyrocketed to fame for her role in the TV series "Princess Pearl." In late 2021, she was suddenly placed on an official list of "tainted celebrities," disappearing from the public eye for over four years. This March, Zhao Wei made a rare update to her Weibo with recent photos, surprising and delighting a large number of her fans.

Zhao Wei married Singaporean businessman Huang Youlong in 2008. Years ago, he became embroiled in financial disputes, accused of owing 753 million Hong Kong dollars (about 419 million Malaysian ringgit). Last year, Zhao Wei confirmed to the public that they had divorced years ago, stating, "Our marital relationship has long been legally dissolved," admitting that the two signed divorce papers in 2021.

Recently, China secretly requested Interpol's assistance to issue a red notice, hoping to bring back a fugitive businessman to assist in investigating the case of former Vice Minister of Public Security Sun Lijun. Jack Ma was even asked to personally call and persuade this businessman to return to China. Rumor has it that this businessman is Huang Youlong, but this information has not been confirmed.
