Chinese actress Zeng Li, known for her roles as Zhao Lusi's mother in "Love Like the Galaxy" and "Hidden Love," has been dubbed the "most beautiful mom specialist." In March, she was accused of reselling fan gifts. Her studio later clarified that it was done by staff members without Zeng Li's knowledge. Unexpectedly, the fan who raised the issue shared a handwritten apology letter on April 29, sparking discussion among netizens.
Zeng Li's fan posted an apology letter to Zeng Li on Weibo, stating that they had accused Zeng Li and the studio of condoning the reselling of gifts by the staff without verifying the facts, which harmed Zeng Li's reputation. "I deeply apologize for the harm my statements caused to Ms. Zeng Li."
The fan also mentioned receiving a call from the police on March 27, confirming that Ms. Zeng Li was not aware of the situation and did not resell items on Xianyu (an auction platform). However, screenshots of their Weibo post were already spread widely by marketing accounts, causing irreversible harm to Ms. Zeng Li. "I sincerely apologize to Ms. Zeng Li again. I urge the marketing accounts to delete the posts and call on netizens not to spread rumors to avoid harming innocent individuals."
In response, Zeng Li's studio forwarded the statement, expressing "thanks for revealing the truth! Once again, we offer our sincerest apologies to Ms. Zeng Li and our fan friends!" They promised to strengthen internal management to prevent similar incidents. Zeng Li personally commented on the fan's post: "I've never liked to involve myself in disputes or confrontations, but I completely understand your feelings. Thank you for your continued support, hugs to you, happy Labor Day!"
The fan replied, "I'm grateful for our encounter, but our fate has ended. Wishing you peace and happiness." Although the studio twice clarified that Zeng Li was unaware of the resale of fan gifts, having the questioning fan apologize and even report them to the police left netizens shocked, calling it an "epic PR disaster" and questioning, "Why is the fan apologizing? Strictly speaking, isn't she also a victim?"
