(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) Baiduri Bank recently participated in the Hari Raya Festival Exhibition organized by the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation (YSHHB) at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
This exhibition was held in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations, themed "Artificial Intelligence as a Catalyst for Community Development," and focused on demonstrating how technology can be used to support socio-economic development in an inclusive, responsible manner aligned with national priorities.
This exhibition showcased the importance of innovation that aligns with Brunei’s long-term development and values. It resonated with the “Brunei Vision 2035” and the “Whole of Nation” approach, bringing together stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to jointly demonstrate how digital transformation can strengthen institutions, improve quality of life, and help Brunei progress towards becoming a smart nation.
At the exhibition, the bank featured in the "Smart Economy and Inclusive Growth" section, showcasing how banking innovation, digital capabilities, and artificial intelligence are practically applied to support individuals, businesses, and the broader economic development.

The bank’s showcase did not focus on technology alone, but instead emphasized how AI is integrated into daily banking operations, thus improving convenience, efficiency, and decision-making while maintaining robust governance and client trust.
One of the highlights was Emmi, a chatbot powered by generative artificial intelligence, which has been upgraded in 2025 to offer a more natural and responsive interactive experience. As the first local bank to deploy generative AI in customer support, Emmi enables quicker solutions to common inquiries and improves the accessibility of key services. Its integration with WhatsApp further enhances accessibility, extending support across the bank’s digital ecosystem.
Additionally, the bank showcased BaiduriTap2Pay, a mobile payment solution allowing merchants to accept contactless card payments directly via NFC-enabled Android smartphones with no extra hardware. Designed for convenience, Tap2Pay aims to help SMEs and micro-enterprises more easily adopt cashless payments, contributing to a more inclusive and digital economy.

Moreover, the bank shared its broader AI strategy, which focuses on applying artificial intelligence in areas that deliver clear and tangible value—from enhancing customer engagement to strengthening internal decision-making and operational efficiency. This strategy is founded on ongoing investment in secure cloud infrastructure, enterprise data capabilities, and cybersecurity, ensuring innovation is implemented responsibly.
The bank has also strengthened related efforts through collaboration with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), focusing on applied AI research and talent development; as well as with Microsoft, supporting scalable and secure AI solutions. Internally, the bank continuously enhances staff AI literacy and capabilities, reinforcing a culture of responsible and well-informed innovation.

Mr. Ti Eng Hui, CEO of the bank, commented on the participation: “As Brunei advances its digital transformation, applying innovation in a pragmatic, reliable, and inclusive manner is essential. Platforms like this exhibition allow us to demonstrate how technologies such as AI and digital payments can meet everyday needs, empower businesses, and contribute tangibly to sustainable economic growth.”
This exhibition also highlighted broader national priorities including digital trust and cybersecurity, improving quality of life through smart services, education and human capital development, and the role of innovation in promoting inclusive economic growth.
