(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) The 10th World Friendship Day delegation held a press conference yesterday at the Junazhi Lian Hall 2, marking the first official appearance of World Friendship Day in Brunei since its establishment in 2016.
The event was co-hosted by the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Association and the World Friendship Day Organizing Committee. Poets, calligraphers, martial artists, entrepreneurs, and cultural scholars from China, the United States, Australia, and other countries engaged with Brunei’s cultural community to jointly explore new directions for international cultural cooperation.
Yang Zhensheng, president of the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Cultural Association, stated in his speech that Brunei is a harmonious and stable society with a coexistence of diverse cultures. Local cultural groups have long promoted the exchange of Chinese cultural arts. The World Friendship Day’s choice to promote its ideals in Brunei for the first time is of far-reaching significance for the local cultural circle.
He pointed out that the local art community is willing to establish a long-term cooperation channel with the World Friendship Day, hoping for broader interactions in the future in the fields of poetry, calligraphy and painting, literature and martial arts, as well as youth cultural exchanges.
He expressed that this official debut of World Friendship Day in Brunei is an important milestone for the local cultural community. Brunei has long been committed to advancing both Chinese culture and local traditional culture. The international network and cultural vision of World Friendship Day will provide a new platform for local youth and cultural groups to step onto the international stage and welcome the inclusion of Brunei into World Friendship Day’s future map of international cooperation.
