She mentioned that during the Chinese New Year gifting event held at the Dynasty Hotel, a total of 150 beneficiaries received 150 MYR worth of goods sponsored by the hotel along with a 100 MYR red packet distributed by the government through the Welfare Department.
Fatimah made this statement during her speech at the Chinese New Year gifting event held at Dynasty Hotel in conjunction with the Miri Social Welfare Department.
She pointed out that a total of 836 Chinese individuals in Miri received New Year aid, among whom 150 received their aid on-site, while the aid for others has been deposited into their bank accounts.
She also mentioned that this event was a close collaboration between Dynasty Hotel and the Miri Social Welfare Department. She was pleased that the hotel provided the venue free of charge, and additionally, Dynasty Hotel donated food baskets worth RM150 each, amounting to 22,500 MYR to 150 beneficiaries of this event.
"The gifting activity planned in conjunction with the festival is a signature program of the Sarawak Social Welfare Department, providing 100 MYR and a gift basket worth a total of 80 MYR to aid recipients for over 20 years."
She stated that the gifting activities during the festival in Sarawak are significant, especially in fostering community unity, friendship, and solidarity, and the program provides economic assistance, essential items, or food donations to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, single mothers, and low-income individuals. This helps alleviate their burden, allowing them to celebrate the festival more meaningfully.
"Overall, the gifting activity not only brings joy to the recipients but also plays an important role in maintaining social well-being and community cohesion in Sarawak."
