(Miri, 22nd) Today, Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin attended the post-disaster cleaning activity at Kampung Lereng Bukit.
In his speech at the event, Lee Kim Shin stated that today and tomorrow are the last two cleaning activities organized by the Miri Disaster Management Committee. They have already been to 11 areas, and this is the last one because it could only be accessed after a safety assessment.
He said that this is a disaster, so it should not become a political issue. Pointing fingers does not accomplish any work, as safe cleanup requires proper arrangements.
"The organizations, businesses, and people of Miri form a caring and proactive community. Through collaboration, they've managed to clean up various areas of Miri and collect debris within a week, which is commendable."
He also mentioned that by utilizing community cooperation, the efficiency of cleanup is greatly improved, helping the disaster areas return to cleanliness and safety as quickly as possible.
It is reported that over 250 people participated in today's activity.
