China Extends 46-Country Visa-Free Entry Until End of 2026

On the evening of the 3rd, the Consular Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that citizens from a total of 46 countries may unilaterally enter China visa-free for 30 days until December 31, 2026.

According to an announcement on the Consular Department’s WeChat public account "Consular Express," from now until December 31, 2026, the Asian countries eligible for the unilateral 30-day visa-free entry to China are South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain; in South America, they are Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay; and in Oceania, Australia and New Zealand.

The rest are all European countries, namely: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Cyprus, and Sweden.

Among these 46 countries, Sweden is newly granted 30-day unilateral visa-free entry to China, effective from November 10 this year until December 31, 2026. The other 45 countries had previously been granted access, but the validity period is now extended to December 31, 2026.

The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that holders of ordinary passports from the aforementioned countries may enter China for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchanges and visits, or transiting for no more than 30 days without a visa. Those who do not meet the visa exemption requirements must still obtain a Chinese visa before entry.
