Korean Air Purchases Over 100 Boeing Aircraft During South Korean President’s US Visit

On the 26th, Korean Air announced it will purchase more than 100 Boeing aircraft, marking the largest transaction in South Korean aviation history. The announcement came just hours after South Korean President Lee Jae-myung met with US President Trump in Washington.

According to AFP, Korean Air issued a statement saying: “Korean Air announces its intention to purchase 103 new-generation Boeing aircraft.”

According to Korean Air, the purchase is valued at approximately $50 billion (21.0169 billion MYR), including spare engines from GE Aerospace. The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered “gradually by the end of 2030.”

Seoul-based Korean Air further stated: “This Boeing order consists of 20 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s, and 8 777-8F cargo aircraft.”

This purchase agreement was officially signed on the 26th during the Korea-US Business Meeting held in Washington, presided over by US Secretary of Commerce Lutnick and officials from South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

On the 26th, US President Trump had his first meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in Washington to discuss bilateral relations. Just a few weeks earlier, the two countries had reached a trade agreement, with the South Korean side announcing plans for major investments in the United States.
