Iran Claims 3 Ceasefire Terms Violated, Closes Strait of Hormuz Again

Published at Apr 09, 2026 11:25 am
After the US-Iran ceasefire, Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization on the 8th released a safe navigation chart for the Strait of Hormuz, advising passing vessels to comply with maritime safety principles to avoid striking mines. On the same day, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf accused that, even before US-Iran negotiations began, three key items out of Iran’s ten ceasefire terms had been openly violated, including an attack on Lebanon that resulted in over 250 deaths. The Strait of Hormuz has once again been closed.

Ghalibaf stated that Iran has never trusted the United States due to repeated breaches of commitments by the latter. He pointed out that Iran’s proposed “Ten-Point Plan” is a feasible basis and the main framework for negotiations, but the first term, which is “an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and all other regions, taking effect at once,” has already been violated. In addition to ongoing attacks on Lebanon, there was also a drone that invaded Iranian airspace and was shot down. Denying Iran’s right to uranium enrichment is also a violation of the sixth term. Ghalibaf bluntly said that under these circumstances, any ceasefire or negotiations between the parties are meaningless.

Following Israel’s attack on Lebanon, Iran halted the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker Aurora, originally headed for the strait’s exit, suddenly changed direction near the coast of Oman’s Musandam Peninsula, turned 180 degrees, and returned to the depths of the Persian Gulf. Previously, Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization issued a statement pointing out that various types of anti-ship mines may exist within the strait’s main channel. The safe entrance route extends north from the Oman Sea to Larak Island, while the safe exit route extends south from the Persian Gulf to the Oman Sea. Vessels are instructed to sail according to this safe navigation chart until further notice.
