After the US and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire, the Israeli military on the 8th launched the largest-scale attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon since the start of the US-Israel-Iran conflict. Israel struck over a hundred targets inside Lebanon, with multiple densely-populated commercial and residential areas in downtown Beirut coming under air raids, leaving at least 250 dead and over a thousand injured. Senior Iranian officials warned that if Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon, Iran may withdraw from the ceasefire agreement.

Lebanese President Aoun condemned the Israeli military's actions as a massacre. Prime Minister Salam announced that the 9th would be a national day of mourning to commemorate the innocent civilians killed in Israel's air strikes. All public administrative departments, institutions, and municipal organizations will be closed, and flags will be flown at half-mast in mourning. He stressed that Lebanon will continue to maintain contact with Arab leaders and international officials, mobilizing all political and diplomatic resources to stop Israel's attacks.

The United Nations also strongly condemned Israel's attacks across Lebanon, which have caused massive civilian casualties. The UN called on all parties to use diplomatic channels to stop hostilities and to recommit to the comprehensive implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701. The UN urged all parties to abide by the ceasefire agreement, resolve disputes through dialogue, and promote a permanent ceasefire and long-term solutions.

Leaders from Spain, France, and other European countries also condemned Israel's airstrikes in Lebanon, demanding that the ceasefire agreement include Lebanon.
