The defendant, Xu Weifeng (transliteration, 32 years old), was intercepted by Royal Brunei Customs officers when entering through the Sungai Tujoh checkpoint on July 1, 2025. Officers discovered 19 cartons, 13 packs, and 17 sticks of various brands of cigarettes hidden in his car.

After the case was referred to the court, the court sentenced the defendant to a fine of BND16,312; if he fails to pay, the penalty will be substituted by 13 months of imprisonment.
