19-year-old Hu Lingchen Refuses to Film 'Large-scale Kissing Scene', Suggests His Girlfriend as Replacement, Female Lead Furious and Hits Back

19-year-old Chinese short drama actor Hu Lingchen recently made headlines for abruptly leaving the set in the middle of filming to appease his girlfriend. This sudden move caused the entire crew to halt work, leading to a daily loss exceeding 100,000 RMB (about 58,900 MYR). The news sparked heated discussions online. The drama’s female lead, Li Ziying, publicly criticized Hu for his lack of professionalism, saying that he was unwilling to film kissing scenes and even requested the director to replace her with his girlfriend, leaving Li Ziying utterly dumbfounded.

According to Chinese media reports, the short drama "Love Brain" had only been filming for two days when the male lead Hu Lingchen suddenly informed the crew at 3am to stop filming. He left his assistant at the hotel and traveled alone to another city to comfort his girlfriend, Qi Kexin. The female lead, Li Ziying, later came forward to confirm the incident, stating that the originally scheduled scenes had to be reshot at the last minute, with the male lead urgently replaced at 4am while the entire crew rushed to work overnight. She helplessly revealed that what should have been completed by 10am the next day ended up dragging into the next day due to the overnight shoot, and the originally planned 80 episodes had to be compressed and finished within just five days, leaving all actors and staff completely exhausted.

Li Ziying expressed her anger: “I'm so pissed off! He said I wasn't suitable for the female lead role,” she emphasized that she had won the role on her own merit and was displeased by Hu’s accusation that she got the role through connections. Li Ziying angrily retorted: “I’m not good enough, and you’re unwilling to kiss me? I really don’t know what to say.”

Facing outside criticism, Hu Lingchen previously responded to netizens online by retorting, “Yeah yeah, so what,” and “Your mouth is pretty nasty too.” Although he later deleted his posts, he did not make a formal apology, and even enabled an anti-harassment mode on his account, which triggered even more criticism. Netizens widely believe that Hu’s actions seriously delayed the progress of the filming and ruined his future in the entertainment industry, harshly criticizing him as being ‘love-brained’ and ‘unsuited for this line of work.’
