US President Trump stated on the 27th that if Canada wishes to join the US "Golden Dome" space-based missile defense system, it will need to pay $61 billion (approximately 259.5 billion Malaysian Ringgit).
He posted on social media that Canada is "very eager" to become part of the "Golden Dome" system. If it continues to maintain its status as an independent nation, it will need to pay $61 billion, but "if they become the cherished 51st state of America, no payment will be required."
He mentioned that Canada is considering this proposal.
On the 20th of this month, Trump announced the development plan for the space-based missile defense system named "Golden Dome" at the White House, with the entire system expected to cost approximately $175 billion. Canadian Prime Minister Carney stated on the 21st that Canada is seeking to invest in this system.
Criticizes Putin for "Playing with Fire"
Trump also criticized Russian President Putin on social media for "playing with fire."
He said, "Putin doesn't realize that if it weren't for me, many very bad things would have already happened in Russia. He is playing with fire."
In response, Russia's Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Medvedev stated on the 27th: "I only know one very bad thing—World War III. I hope Trump can understand this."
