The Chinese Consulate-General in Auckland, New Zealand stated on social media on the 20th that it is concerned about a recent assault case involving a Chinese citizen, and has expressed serious concern to the Auckland police, demanding a prompt, fair, and rigorous investigation.
According to a notice published on the Consulate's WeChat public account, it was learned that a Chinese citizen was attacked and beaten by several unidentified men while live streaming on the streets of downtown Auckland, resulting in multiple injuries and loss of personal property.
The Consulate has already called the victim to offer necessary consular protection and assistance, and expressed serious concern to local police, calling for a thorough investigation and measures to effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens. The Consulate also reminds Chinese citizens in the consular district to raise their safety awareness and strengthen self-protection.
The Consulate-General advises Chinese citizens in the consular district to heighten their awareness of safety precautions and strengthen self-protection, and stated: “In case of emergency, please call the police immediately and contact the Consulate-General for assistance.”
