The Selangor government has proposed three alternative sites for cattle farmers who received eviction notices from SD Guthrie in Sabak Bernam.
State Rural Development, Unity, and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rizam Ismail said the proposed sites were the Sabak Bernam Veterinary Department's gazetted land in Beting Kepah, Bagan Nakhoda Omar; land owned by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) in Mukim Sungai Panjang; and the gazetted land of the Sabak Bernam Land Administrator in Pekan Bagan Terap.
He said the state government's priority was ensuring public safety, protecting residents' interests, and finding a solution that benefited everyone.
"Cattle farming at these new locations must be carried out in feedlots and follow the specified conditions.
"The Selangor government is dedicated to ensuring the well-being of all parties involved, including cattle farmers, plantation companies, and the local community," he said.
Rizam clarified that SD Guthrie issued the eviction notice, not the state government. Since the plantation land belongs to the company, the eviction notice is considered an internal policy matter.
Yesterday, R. Vijayagandi, the coordinator of the National Marhaen Breeders Association, urged the Selangor government to intervene and revoke the eviction notice issued by SD Guthrie to cattle farmers at SD Guthrie Farm in Sabak Bernam.
