KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the 27th Malaysia-Brunei Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-27) as having achieved its main objective of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
In a Facebook post today, Anwar said the special relationship between Malaysia and Brunei would continue to be strengthened for the prosperity and well-being of the people from both countries.
The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, for the warm and cordial hospitality extended to him, his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and the entire Malaysian delegation.
"On behalf of the Malaysian Government and the people, I pray that Your Majesty will continue to rule Brunei Darussalam with wisdom,” Anwar said.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Sarawak and Sabah state governments, the ministries and agencies involved, the Malaysian High Commission in Bandar Seri Begawan and the media personnel for playing an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the visit.
Earlier today, Anwar held a four-eyed meeting with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at Istana Nurul Iman before jointly witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on disaster management cooperation between the two countries.
Anwar arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday to begin a two-day working visit in conjunction with ALC-27.
