(Kuala Lumpur, 27th) About 300,000 military and police personnel can now enjoy subsidized petrol at RM1.99 per liter, becoming the first group to benefit from the “BUDI 95 Progressive Governance RON95 Petrol Subsidy Mechanism.”
Several policemen, when interviewed, expressed joy over this policy and said it could ease their family burden.
Kairul, a 55-year-old Assistant Director of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, said he is pleased the government allowed civil servants to be the first to enjoy this policy.
Traffic police officer Mohamad Fitri (30) remarked that the “BUDI 95 Progressive Governance Petrol Subsidy Mechanism” is a big help for police officers, as it reduces their daily expenses.
“We can spend the money saved on more important things, such as household expenses.”
Traffic police officer Nor Fatin (29) also admitted that the “BUDI 95 Progressive Governance Petrol Subsidy Mechanism” helps ease the rising cost of living.
“I hope I can continue to enjoy these savings. Although I’m single, my living expenses are still high. So, with this measure, at least it gives us some relief.”
As the military and police become the first batch to enjoy the RM1.99 petrol subsidy on Saturday (27th), the second group of beneficiaries will be recipients of the Compassionate Aid (STR), who will start to enjoy this benefit from Sunday (28th).
The remaining 16 million Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above who hold a MyKad and valid driving license will be eligible for this benefit starting September 30.
Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar recently announced that all Malaysians, regardless of income level, can enjoy this benefit as long as they hold a valid driving license.
He said that the amount saved under this plan will be redistributed to the people in the form of cash assistance, and the government will also focus on improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
He stated that eligible Malaysian citizens will receive a monthly quota of 300 liters of subsidized RON95 petrol, while e-hailing drivers are not subject to this limit.
The price for non-Malaysian citizens is expected to be RM2.60 per liter for RON95 petrol going forward.
