(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) Brunei National Olympic Council President Prince Sufri Bolkiah called on athletes and officials to strictly observe discipline, abide by the organizing committee's regulations, stay away from banned substances, and adhere to the Anti-Doping Code implemented by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
He also emphasized that during the Asian Beach Games to be held in Sanya, China, from April 22 to 30, 2026, officials and coaches must pay attention to "ensuring the safety of athletes" and safeguard the welfare and well-being of the athletes.
These remarks were delivered by the prince at the flag handover ceremony for the Brunei delegation to the 6th Asian Beach Games. The ceremony was held at the Simpur Room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
Earlier, the prince also congratulated the athletes selected for the delegation and affirmed the achievements of the national athlete evaluation and selection mechanism. He hopes the athletes will demonstrate high self-discipline and responsibility, give their all and fight bravely on the field, and bring glory to the nation.
Although Brunei is only sending four athletes to this edition of the Games, the prince pointed out the significant importance of female athletes' participation, which reflects the nation's efforts to promote female participation in sports and achieve gender balance, as well as aligning with the National Olympic Committee's "Strategic Plan for Women's Participation in Sports".
At the same time, he also expressed his gratitude to the national sports associations and parents for their longstanding support and dedication to the athletes.
