Medical Center Launches New Facility to Support Early Development of Children with Autism

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) yesterday celebrated a significant milestone in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, with the Learning Ladders Association’s facility upgrade project completed and officially launched.

This upgrade will enhance the center's ability to offer structured early intervention and developmental support programs for children with autism and related needs. The event coincided with Learning Ladders' Hari Raya celebration, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere that fostered interaction among children, families, therapists, and partners.

The Minister of Health, Isham Jaafar, who is also JPMC's Board Chairman and Executive Director, was invited as the guest of honor, and JPMC senior management also attended to witness the event.

The upgrade aims to strengthen Learning Ladders’ role as a community center in Brunei, providing evidence-based interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including structured therapy, school readiness, and family support services. By improving the physical environment, the therapy spaces are now safer, more functional, and better suited to meet the needs of both learners and therapists.

The project was completed with the support of several strategic partners including Arkitek Urusreka, Armada Properties, McHouse Interior Decor, Power Teck Engineering, Enercon Services, DHJ Electrical Engineering, TSK Sdn Bhd, Trane Aire, Makan Ceria, and Castle Saniware, all working collaboratively to advance community development services.

JPMC stated that this initiative is part of its commitment to promoting inclusive healthcare and community well-being, especially by providing assistance to children requiring special developmental support.

This milestone also highlights the importance of collaboration among medical institutions, professional service providers, and community organizations to strengthen early support for children with autism and their families in Brunei.

During the event, guests also toured the upgraded therapy and activity spaces to learn how these improvements directly support intervention measures and daily learning activities.
