MySTEP Will Continue Next Year to Provide Short-term Public Employment Opportunities

(Kuala Lumpur, 28th) The government has decided to continue implementing the Malaysia Short-Term Employment Programme (MySTEP) next year, offering the public opportunities and experience in short-term jobs within the public sector.

This decision was announced in a circular dated 24th December 2025, signed by the Deputy Director (Development) of the Public Service Department, Datuk Mohamad Bakari, and has been uploaded to the official Facebook page of the Public Service Department.

According to the circular, the program aims to provide graduates or job seekers, including persons with disabilities and the elderly, the opportunity and experience of working short-term in the public sector.

"The hiring of MySTEP personnel must be carried out according to the rules and procedures specified in the guidelines, which will take effect from 1st January 2026."

With the implementation of the above guidelines, the Human Resource Service Circular UP.1.4.1 regarding the policy and procedures for hiring daily-rated temporary staff, as well as UP.1.4.2 regarding the delegation of authority to approve overtime allowances and payment for weekend and public holiday work, will be temporarily suspended.

Simultaneously, the letter dated 20th December 2024 with reference number JPA.(S).600-3/3/2 Jld. 2 (37), together with the relevant guidelines and attachments, will also be canceled.
