(Rembau, 28th) – The suspect in the “Rembau Homemade Bomb Case,” known as “Ah Yeong,” was finally arrested yesterday afternoon (27th) following a police manhunt by Negeri Sembilan police. When apprehended, he had burn marks all over his body and was physically weak. He has since been sent to the hospital for treatment.
Negeri Sembilan State Police Chief Dato’ Azazfni confirmed at a press conference that the 62-year-old male suspect, Yeoh Hock Sun (transliteration), was arrested at around 4pm yesterday afternoon by the roadside at Pedang Benar, Rembau.
“Acting on intelligence, officers were dispatched to the area to carry out the arrest, successfully detaining this dangerous individual. Upon checking the suspect’s body, we found burns on his face, torso, both arms, and both legs, and he was in a weakened state, so he was taken to the hospital for treatment.”
Azazfni further stated that at the arrest site, police also seized a motorcycle believed to belong to the suspect, as well as several suspected homemade explosive devices.
He expressed gratitude to public members who provided helpful information and assisted police in solving the case, and also called on all sectors to avoid unfounded speculation about the case to prevent affecting the investigation. According to reports, the suspect previously detonated a homemade bomb in the Desa Palma commercial area in Rembau, causing public panic. After investigation, police found him to be a “lone wolf” criminal, not affiliated with any gangs or armed organizations.
Investigations revealed that six months prior to committing the crime, the suspect had already rented a shop lot near the commercial area and converted it into a laboratory. Police later discovered a total of 32 homemade bombs in the suspect’s car and residence.
Although the motive is still under investigation, it was also revealed that the suspect has an extreme personality, has not contacted his family for 30 years, and previously attempted to attack neighbors with an axe, showing violent tendencies.
Furthermore, police revealed that the suspect possesses a certain level of chemical laboratory knowledge and knows how to make homemade bombs, therefore being classified as a high-risk individual.
