Artificial lake cycling pump track sports field completed Miri City Council officially accepts

(Miri 13th) The cycling pump track sports field at Taman Bulatan Miri  has been completed, with the handover ceremony witnessed by Datuk Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister of Sarawak Tourism and State Assemblyman for Piasau. It is now officially handed over to Miri City Council for further beautification and maintenance work.

This project was built through the rural transformation funding secured by Sebastian Ting and completed three weeks ahead of schedule. The cycling sports track is 251 meters long and meets international standards, making it the 1058th such track worldwide that complies with international specifications.

Sebastian Ting pointed out that this high-standard track will not only attract cycling enthusiasts from Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei, and West Malaysia to participate in competitions but will also help promote Miri's tourism industry.

He stated that the construction of this facility will add a brand new sports and tourism highlight to Miri, with the potential to host international events and attract more tourists to visit Miri. The design and construction of the sports field were carried out by Velosolutions, a globally renowned company specializing in pump track construction.

Sebastian Ting emphasized that the company has extensive experience worldwide, and its high-quality engineering will provide a safe and exciting experience for cycling enthusiasts and tourists in Miri.

The project commenced on September 5, 2024, with an originally planned completion date of February 4, 2025, but construction was completed ahead of schedule and successfully handed over recently.

Next, Miri City Council will proceed with the second phase of beautification works, including the construction of a small stage, installation of fencing, and addition of lighting facilities, to provide a more complete experience for citizens and tourists.

Sebastian Ting stated that these subsequent works not only enhance the overall functionality of the sports field but also provide more possibilities for future event hosting.

He urged citizens to make good use of this facility and jointly promote the development of sports and tourism in Miri.
