(Putrajaya, 24th) Minister of Communications Dato’ Seri Fahmi pointed out that this year’s National Day celebration to be held at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31 will feature several new highlights, including the participation of the Johor Military Force (JMF) for the first time, as well as more contingents and decorated vehicles joining the parade.

"I think what is different from past years is that we have invited the Johor Military Force to participate, and they will send equipment and a 100-person team to take part."

He said this to reporters after inspecting the rehearsal for the National Day human formation performance today. Present were Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching and Communications Ministry Secretary-General Abdul Harim Hamzah.

Fahmi mentioned that another difference is that military and police equipment will no longer be displayed statically along the parade route, but will instead be positioned at specific locations at the Millennium Monument, allowing the public to view them up close.

He said that over 70% of preparations for the National Day celebration have been completed and is expected to reach 80% to 90% in the coming days.

He revealed that ongoing preparations include the construction of tiered grandstands and the arrangement of the royal viewing platform.

Regarding the human formation performance, Fahmi said that 1,500 students from 36 schools in Selangor are undergoing their first day of training at the celebration site.

"I see their enthusiasm is very high, and this is also their first time at the event venue."

"We will pay attention to certain matters to ensure they feel comfortable and to make sure their performance is well-prepared before next Monday comes."

Fahmi pointed out that the authorities are also monitoring health issues related to the haze situation, and will work with the Meteorological Department and Ministry of Health to study the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

"During last week’s National Day celebration organizing committee meeting, I instructed that the SOP related to health must be obtained and will be announced to the public soon."

In addition, he said that to facilitate public viewing of the National Day celebration performances, MRT service will run for 24 hours from the 30th to the 31st.

He said this year marks the third year that free water taxi services are provided by the authorities, offering visitors an alternative transportation option and a chance to enjoy the attractions around Putrajaya.

He said that various supplies, including food and products, will also be prepared for distribution to participants and the public on that day.
