As of 9am, 10 Districts Still Have Unhealthy Air Pollution Index

(Kuala Lumpur, 24th) As of Monday (24th) 9am, there are still 10 areas nationwide where the Air Pollution Index (API) has reached unhealthy levels.

According to data from the Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS), there are five stations in Sarawak that have surpassed the unhealthy threshold. The Serian Police Headquarters Station recorded the highest reading nationwide at 192 points, followed by Kuching (176 points), Samarahan (171 points), Sri Aman (158 points), and Bintulu (109 points).

Outside of Sarawak, two areas in Selangor also recorded unhealthy API readings—Johan Setia (160 points) and Kuala Selangor (152 points).

Sungai Petani (155 points) and Alor Setar (152 points) in Kedah are in the unhealthy range as well, while the API reading for Minden in Penang is 135 points.

Meanwhile, a total of 58 areas nationwide have API readings at moderate levels, with no area recording a good level.

According to the API classification standards, 0-50 points is categorized as good, 51-100 points as moderate, 101-200 points as unhealthy, 201-300 points as very unhealthy, and above 300 points is classified as hazardous.

API data is updated hourly, based on real-time readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
