(Miri 26th) The Miri Youth Association held an open day last night at the Creative Industry Development Center.
The representative of the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Sarawak, Dato' Sebastian Ting, Councilor Leslie Lau, said in his speech that the Prime Minister has mentioned that leaders need to have foresight to organize various activities, and at the same time, the people must unite and cooperate to ensure that all government plans can be implemented smoothly.
“Sarawak was able to maintain stable development during the pandemic, and the digital economy played a pivotal role. The foresight and wisdom of Premier Dato Patinggi Abang Johari is crucial.”
He pointed out that before the pandemic, when the Sarawak government was promoting the development of the digital economy, many people scoffed at it. But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the rise of the digital economy proved the importance of having visionary leadership.
“The government has invested heavily in infrastructure development to drive economic growth and close the development gap between urban and rural areas. Perhaps infrastructure development does not yield significant results in the short term, but in the long run, it is an indispensable strategic layout that can only be realized by leaders with foresight.”
He also said that it is very important to take precautions, and we need to integrate resources and formulate long-term development plans so that we can stand in an unbeatable position when facing challenges in the future.
“All sectors of society should support the Sarawak government’s investment plans in digital economy and infrastructure because this is not only related to the current economic development but also an important cornerstone for the future prosperity of Sarawak.”
