(Miri, 26th) A total of 30 pre-university engineering and science students from Curtin University Malaysia recently visited SGS company located in Miri, witnessing firsthand how chemistry drives real-world innovation.
This visit was organized by Cynthia Paul Sebli, a research associate and chemistry lecturer at Curtin Malaysia's School of Pre-University and Continuing Education (SPACE), to bridge the gap between textbook theory and real-world applications. Accompanied by SPACE lecturer Bejay Anak Ugon, students toured SGS's state-of-the-art laboratories to learn how industry leaders maintain product quality and safety.
Cynthia said the visit was not just about understanding how things work; it was also about understanding what's behind them. Students saw how their classroom knowledge translates into ensuring quality control, testing, and product safety worldwide. It was also an excellent opportunity for them to explore career paths in the chemical industry.
