Golden Melody King JJ Lin has released a new single, "Skibidi," inviting kung fu superstar Jackie Chan for a cross-over collaboration—Jackie's first song in seven years. This marks their first partnership in creating a powerfully energetic track that embodies the spirit of self-breakthrough. "Skibidi" combines the soulful melodies of Flamenco with Reggaeton Pop rhythms, with the chorus singing: "No we can’t skip a beat," representing a belief in never giving up.
Their collaboration originated from a joint performance of "True Heroes" in April, where their interaction led to this new song. JJ shared that when creating the song, he thought about the energy and joy brought by Jackie Chan’s works, but also the hardships behind it. He hopes to convey the spirit of striving for perfection through upbeat melodies. During recording, JJ asked Jackie to perform with the mindset of "bringing happiness to everyone like making a movie," but Jackie laughed and said, "What came to mind was smashing through glass and hanging from wires—where’s the happiness in that!"
Jackie recalled that when he received the invitation to collaborate with JJ, he felt both happy and nervous: "JJ is a singer I really like, but I didn’t know what kind of song he would write. I kept asking when I could hear the demo." He admitted that when he first heard the song, he found the melody very pleasant but also full of challenges: "This is a type of song I rarely sing, especially the English in the chorus. Looking at the lyrics, each line seemed similar, but singing them, every line was actually different. JJ said he intentionally designed it as a tongue twister in English. For me, it’s really too difficult."
