The United States will sell Israel weapons worth $8 billion (approximately 36 billion ringgit).
An anonymous official said on Saturday that the U.S. State Department has "informally notified Congress about the proposed sale of $8 billion in arms to support Israel's long-term security by restocking critical ammunition inventories and air defense capabilities."
The preliminary notification gives congressional committees a chance to carefully review the proposed sale before a formal notification is sent to Congress.
The weapons include medium-range air-to-air missiles for defense against aerial threats, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, 155mm artillery shells, and 500-pound warheads.
The official said that President Biden has made it clear that Israel has the right to protect its citizens and deter aggression from Iran and its affiliates in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law.
