South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, after refusing to comply with summoning investigations three times, had an arrest warrant sought by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) at the court. However, when the CIO and police attempted to arrest Yoon Suk-yeol for the first time on the 3rd at the presidential residence, a standoff with the Presidential Security Service ensued for five hours, ultimately to no avail.

Yoon Suk-yeol's defense team stated on the 5th that the arrest attempt was illegal and announced plans to sue over 150 people involved in the attempt to arrest Yoon Suk-yeol. It is anticipated that the CIO will make a second attempt to enter Yoon Suk-yeol's residence to execute the arrest on the 5th.
The Chosun Ilbo reported that Yoon Suk-yeol's defense team issued a statement on the morning of the 5th, announcing plans to file charges against over 150 individuals involved in the action to arrest Yoon Suk-yeol, including CIO Director Woo Dong-woon, Acting Minister of Defense Vice Minister Kim Sun-ho, about 30 prosecutors from the CIO, and personnel from the Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency.

The defense team accused these related personnel of obstructing the execution of official duties, causing harm, illegally trespassing in a special building, and violating the Military Base and Military Facilities Protection Act, among other charges.

The warrant for Yoon Suk-yeol's arrest issued by the court is set to expire on the 6th. The CIO had already sent a letter on the 4th to Acting President Choi Sang-mook, requesting that he order the Presidential Security Service to cooperate in arresting Yoon Suk-yeol.
