(Manila, 28th) Philippine Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon praised the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) on Wednesday for swiftly arresting a foreign traveler carrying drugs. The incident occurred this Monday at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

Dizon stated in a statement that this swift action reflects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s clear directive on airport security, which is to ensure the safety and order of passenger travel.

"We repeatedly remind passengers not to bring any prohibited items into the airport. If it is drugs, that is absolutely intolerable and surely results in jail time," he said.

According to OTS's report, the involved traveler was a Korean passenger, Koh Myungso, who was originally scheduled to take flight OZ 704 to Incheon, Korea. Security personnel discovered a lighter during X-ray inspection of his carry-on luggage, triggering further manual inspection.

During the manual search, suspected drugs and related paraphernalia were found, and the suspicion was confirmed through the use of a drug-sniffing dog (K9).

The traveler tested positive for methamphetamine (commonly known as ice) using chemical detection equipment.

Currently, the traveler has been handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) and is undergoing investigation procedures.
