Cambodian Ministry of Defense spokesperson Marie Sokcheata stated on the 30th that a delegation sent by Malaysia will deploy observer groups at the Cambodia-Thailand border to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire.
At a press conference, she pointed out that on the 29th, ASEAN chair country Malaysia sent a high-level delegation led by Malaysian Armed Forces Chief Mohamad Nizam to visit Cambodia. Mohamad Nizam confirmed that two observer groups will be sent out—one led by the Malaysian military attaché in Cambodia, and the other led by the Malaysian military attaché in Thailand—scheduled to be deployed on the 30th to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
She said the situation at the Cambodia-Thailand border has calmed down and, to date, the ceasefire has been implemented "effectively and peacefully."
She also mentioned the meeting held on the 29th between front-line commanders of the two countries in the border area, commenting that the talks "demonstrated respect and cooperation," and both sides stated their commitment to abide by the consensus reached at this meeting.
