China Meteorological Administration: Over 40 Countries Have Adopted 'Mazu' Meteorological Early Warning Products

The head of the China Meteorological Administration stated that meteorological departments in more than 40 countries have used the "Mazu (MAZU)" meteorological early warning business products developed by China through the cloud.

At a press conference of the State Council on the 28th, Director Chen Zhenlin explained that the reason why China Meteorological Administration's national early warning plan is called 'Mazu' is because Mazu has traditionally been regarded as a protector of humanity, especially fishermen going out to sea, and possesses knowledge about meteorology, oceans, and disaster prevention and mitigation.

According to The Paper, Chen Zhenlin said that the satellites and radars of the "Mazu" system, including physical models and artificial intelligence models, are the modern equivalents of "clairvoyance" and "keen hearing." The "Mazu (MAZU)" plan is a typical product of integrating outstanding traditional Chinese culture with modern technology.

Regarding the application progress of the "Mazu" plan, Chen Zhenlin stated that since 2024, nearly a thousand people from more than 100 developing countries and regions have participated in China's meteorological early warning technology training, and meteorological departments from over 40 countries have used the "Mazu (MAZU)" early warning business products via the cloud. Customized versions have already been implemented in 7 countries, including Pakistan, Ethiopia, Solomon Islands, Jordan, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, and Djibouti, among others.
