(Kuching, 29th) Regarding the baseless accusations and public debate challenge made by UMNO Youth Chief Akmal against the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing, Sibu Division Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry President and Sombong Chinese Chamber of Commerce President Dato'  Ngu Piew Seng strongly condemns these actions and fully supports Minister Tiong King Sing's stance.

“Akmal’s remarks not only appear absurd and ignorant, but also reveal his malicious intent to incite racial sentiments, attempting to replicate Mahathir’s extreme route.”

He stated that Malaysia is a multiracial country where people of all ethnic groups support and respect each other in this community, which is our core value.

“However, Akmal repeatedly raises racial issues, trying to create division and confrontation to increase his own exposure. His proposal for a public debate is merely a political gimmick, and his underlying intentions are evident.”

In today’s press release, Dato'  Ngu Piew Seng pointed out that Akmal's so-called accusations are completely 'the pot calling the kettle black'. The facts prove that the real extreme racists are those who incite hatred and provoke division.

“In contrast, Minister Tiong King Sing has always adhered to the principles of diversity and inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of unity, and has pointed out that the excessive enforcement by Kuala Lumpur City Hall on shop signs not only damages the nation’s image but also leads international tourists to question our country's openness and inclusive attitude.”

He emphasized that this is the demeanor that should be expected of a responsible and visionary leader.

He said that Malaysia has now entered a new era of promoting diversity, respect, and inclusiveness. Extreme racist ideologies are being abandoned by awakened citizens. Anyone attempting to use such means to gain political benefits will ultimately be eliminated by history.

He advised Akmal that instead of continuing to stir up sensitive racial issues, he should focus on improving his governance capabilities and strive to become a leader who fosters national unity and promotes ethnic harmony.

“Minister Tiong King Sing does not need to waste time arguing with Akmal because he shoulders a more important mission: to propel the nation towards unity, prosperity, and openness.”

He fully supports Minister Tiong King Sing’s stance and calls on all citizens to recognize the true purpose behind extremists stirring up controversy, unite together, and work for a harmonious multiracial society. We must reject any rhetoric or actions that attempt to divide the nation.
